Fun at Science in the Sun ~ USFSP’s Science Fest 2025

Sea Us Rise once again sponsored and showcased at the University of South Florida St. Pete’s  (USFSP) Science in the Sun.
Friday (2/7) was for schools only, and Saturday (2/8) was open to the public. Both days were PACKED. Go Science!

We were the t-shirt sponsors, ensuring that the students all got organic cotton shirts printed sustainably. These are the shirt tags they got, why not educate? The shirts were designed by USFSP graphic arts students, and printed by Northshore Printing, our sustainability partners.

We tabled there, offering Climate Jeopardy both Friday and Saturday. On Saturday, we brought back our (in)famous cotton candy machine, served sustainably on cardboard cones. We were really excited to bring in Academy Prep’s Choir for the Main Stage. They sang Change, by Dane Myers, the song from inaugural Sing to Change Project.

Why cotton candy? Just because of organic cotton shirts?

We LOVED getting to see Nasja Wilkins direct the Academy Prep Choir sing Change. They have sung it before, but this time they added more singers and flourishes!

We also offered classrooms a year’s subscription to the Turtle Conservancy if they pledged to not use single use plastics in their classrooms. That’s a heavy lift for some schools, but we did have a few classrooms sign up.

It was a great Fest – we are really grateful to our volunteers, who were fab. Thanks to Tyrese Pope for the great photos and videos.
