Sea Us Rise is excited to participate again at the St. Pete Science Fest. Our booth will be lots of fun. We are looking at how anthropogenic, which means human-made, noises affect marine life. We are especially interested in how it affects whales. We will have two THEREMINS that attendees can play, trying to make whale noises. They will have to compete against a playlist of noise – boats, explosions, sonar, and more – seeing if the whales can hear each other over the noise.
We also will have posters about the 29 endangered or threatened marine species off Florida’s coasts. Teachers are welcome to sign up to get a free poster. February 9th is the school day, and February 10th is free and open to the public.
Sea Us Rise also sponsored the festival t-shirts, ensuring that shirts were made sustainably. This means they were made out of recycled fabric, and printed with clean inks.
Please come by and say hi at the fest. It will be wonderful to see you!
