Online. Join 1000 Friends of Florida for Payment for Ecosystem Services: A Conservation Tool for Florida’s Future – the first session in our three-part series on Planning to Protect the Florida Wildlife Corridor 3.0.
This free 2-hour webinar brings together representatives from agriculture, conservation, and finance communities to discuss Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES).This is a promising yet underutilized tool in conservation that recognizes that Florida’s farms, forests, wetlands, and working lands can be valued not just for what they produce, but for what they protect. St. Pete Eco Club meets monthly (first Thursday) at Outcast Brewing to connect locals in eco-action and community sustainability. We gather every month to inspire action and build solutions around the issues that matter most to our community. We focus on energy, water, food, waste, and ecology while creating space for neighbors to share ideas, learn together, and make a real impact.
3 Parks/3 Dates – Pinellas County Bio Blitz – Join the Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz 2026 and Help Save Local Pollinators!

What is a bio Blitz? A Bio Blitz is a quick, targeted survey of species in a particular area. At these events, we will make observations of pollinators and the flowers they are visiting. Observations made at this event with the iNaturalist phone app will be added to a national database that tracks the health of pollinators across the country. More parks’ programs here.
9/9: 5 – 8 p.m.: Wild Space Gallery Author Jono Miller with “The Palmetto Book: Histories and Mysteries of the Cabbage Palm”

Join Wild Space Gallery for a presentation by author Jono Miller (@jonocabbagepalm), a natural historian, educator, and activist who has spent 50 years studying the relationship between people and nature. Author talk followed by a reception and book signing. Miller challenges common myths and reveals surprising facts about its remarkable longevity, relationship to fire, historical uses, and its role in shaping the southeastern American landscape. The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) is on Saturday, September 19th this year, and there are local events.
9/19: 9 a.m. – noon: Tampa Bay Watch South Skyway Cleanup
The meeting location is next to the road leading up to the fishing pier (map will be distributed to registered volunteers). The exit sign says, “South Skyway Fishing Pier” and parking is located in the dirt lot along the road to the fishing pier. Restrooms are available at the rest area building.
Our cleanup efforts will focus along the shorelines, so you should wear clothing and closed toe shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Wear a hat, sunscreen, and bug spray. We’ll have non-latex gloves on hand but bring garden gloves if you prefer. We will provide trash bags and pickers for participants. The event is family friendly and open to all ages. Minor liability waivers are required for all participants under the age of eighteen. Register here.
9/19: 8 – 11 a.m.: We Are Mar International Coastal Cleanup

Limited to 40 participants What to Bring:
- Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes or sandals
- Reusable water bottle
- Sunscreen and hat
- Work gloves (if preferred)
- Cleanup supplies such as buckets, grabbers, and trash bags will be provided.

9/19: 2:15 – 5:45 p.m.: Dunedin World Car Free Day Connect Pinellas & Joy Rides Dunedin

Connect Pinellas and Joy Rides Dunedin, in partnership with the City of Dunedin, will host the first-ever Dunedin World Car Free Day, a walk-and-bike celebration of going “car-free” along the Pinellas Trail from 2:15 to 5:45 p.m., starting at Josiah Cephas Weaver Park. Registration opens at 2:15 p.m., and City Commissioner Jeff Gow will kick things off at 2:25.
At 2:45, attendees will set out on the trail toward Downtown Dunedin, passport in hand.The passport is the game: collect a stamp at each participating business. A completed passport earns an entry in a raffle for special prizes. Stops include Cueni Brewing, where Commissioner Gow will host a Q&A, plus businesses Kafe Racer, Dunedin Mockfusion, and the Bike Lab will all have car-free themed specials. Completed passports are due back at Josiah Cephas Weaver Park by 5:45 p.m. Need a helmet? The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department will hand out free helmets at the park until 4:00 p.m.
9/20: 8 – 10 a.m.: Butterfly Garden Work Day Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society

No experience necessary. We will be weeding, pruning, spreading mulch, and learning about native plants! Meet near the butterfly garden which is next to the Garden Lodge at the end of the parking lot. Join in for as many hours as you can. Bring gloves if you have them – the park has some that volunteers can borrow. No RSVP is necessary, but is appreciated.
