Sea Us Rise Hosts the Launch of Neighbors in the Know Project with Oli Frost

Let’s get together!

Please join us at Sea Us Rise’s Tampa Bay Environmental Salon

We are inviting the leadership of local environmental groups to a party and salon where we will debut the Neighbors in the Know project.

Help shape a new community environmental project that will:

  • Build trustworthy, person-to-person conversations about the environment;
  • Share clear, accurate information on local issues and elections;
  • Encourage greater participation in both community programs and local voting.

How it works:

  • Friendly neighborhood “environmental ambassadors” will check in with their neighbors a few times a year;
  • They will share reliable updates on local environmental issues and ballot initiatives;
  • They will share reliable information on how elected officials are voting on the environment;
  • They will notify neighbors about events and opportunities from local environmental organizations.

The volunteer commitment:
About four hours per month. Each volunteer will take on a small number of homes in their neighborhood, visiting them 4 times a year to update them on environmental issues. This way it is sustainable and neighborly—not overwhelming. Volunteers and organizations can research and verify information before it gets shared in the neighborhood. We would like organizations to either share their volunteer lists or share our verified materials with their volunteers.

Why it matters:
This project is nonpartisan and focused only on environmental issues. By connecting year-round—not just during elections—we can build long-term trust and help our communities stay informed.

💡 Want to help shape this effort from the ground up? Join us at our upcoming planning meeting!

Kicking things off will be the amazing Oli Frost. In typical British fashion, he downplays everything he does:

I’m Oli Frost, I make novelty songs, films and websites about the climate crisis.

Maybe you heard his famous Greta Thunberg Song. Perhaps you have chuckled at his fossil fuel driven wellness app, Oilwell. Or you’ve seen his fake ad agency and fossil fuel funfair. Oli will perform a few of his very funny songs and talk about the results of his climate-driven satire.

The Salon will take place on Thursday, October 9th, from 6-9pm. It will be held at our president’s house in Allendale, St. Pete (we will send you the address!). Drinks and adult beverages, and robust appetizers will be served. We are proud to present this event as part of the Volo Foundation’s 5th Annual Climate Week. You can find more Climate Week events, both online and in-person, through this link. This is the second time Sea Us Rise has participated.

The Salon will start at 6pm, with Oli Frost beaming in from England at 6:30. We think things will wrap up before 9.

We would appreciate getting your RSVP by Monday, October 6, so we can have enough food and chairs. RSVP to info@seausrise.org
